Roberta Biegel (Bradmoor) has advised and lobbied on health policy for several decades. She recently was a consultant and previously was the senior lobbyist and policy advisor for two national health organizations. Earlier in her career, she was on the legislative staff of the U.S. Congress. Roberta joined the BHV Board in 2017, co-chaired and served on several committees, and enjoys participating in the BHV book club. She served as President of BHV during 2021-2023. 

Stephen Brown (Huntington Terrace) has lived in Huntington Terrace since 2009 with his wife Pamela Janssen; they are both dual US/UK citizens. Stephen retired in 2021 from the University of Maryland, where he researched and taught accounting. He moved to the DMV area initially to work at the SEC, having previously lived in Atlanta and Chicago. He has previously been Treasurer of the Huntington Terrace Citizens Association (HTCA) and is currently Treasurer of VLOC - the Victorian Lyric Opera Company. Stephen joined the BHV Board as Treasurer in 2022.

 
Lora Farnstrom (Hillmead) has retired from 40 years of teaching high school English. She joined the BHV Board in 2024 and is a member of the Events Planning Committee. Lora will serve as BHV Vice President during 2026-2027. 

Kathy Gunning (Huntington Terrace) has lived in Huntington Terrace since 1996 with her husband Jack Keeney. Before retiring in 2020, she spent her career serving as a lawyer for federal government agencies in the Washington, D.C. area. For the majority of this time, she worked for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, representing the government in numerous federal courts of appeals across the country and managing litigation arising out of failed financial institutions. During her career, she was also active in the Women’s Bar Association of D.C. (WBA), leading various committees to encourage and assist women lawyers in their careers. She served as President of the WBA during a very busy 75th Anniversary year. Kathy is an active member of the BHV book club and a participant in the BHV movie club.

 

Caryn McTighe Musil (Bradmoor) was an English and Women’s Studies professor before working at the American Association of Colleges and Universities to promote curricular designs about women, U.S. diversity, global issues, and democratic engagement. She retired from AAC&U in 2020. Caryn has lived in Bethesda with her husband Bob since 1987, and her two daughters graduated from Bradley Hills, Pyle, and Whitman. Caryn is a member of the BHV book group, gardens at the Triangle Garden, and chairs the Membership Team. She joined the Board in February 2020, served as Vice President during 2023-2024, and became President in 2024.

 

Charlotte Moser (Hillmead) worked in international communications before she retired in 2018, most recently at the World Bank and IUCN. In 2012, she worked in Thailand and Laos on a project for IUCN-SE Asia. She moved with her family to Hillmead in 1995 from San Francisco, where she was a writer, editor, adjunct faculty and a development officer. As a volunteer in the Washington area, she has served on the boards of the Writer’s Center, River Road Unitarian Universalist Congregation, and the Center for Spirituality in Nature. She is a member of the BHV book group and a firm believer in community connections.

Judy Osborn (Huntington Terrace) recently concluded a 36-year career as an international lawyer at the U.S. Department of State, where she worked on issues ranging from Nazi-confiscated art to foreign official immunity. Judy has lived on Glenwood Road since 1997, and her son attended Bethesda Elementary, Pyle, and Whitman.  While still working full-time, she helped raise a service dog for America's VetDogs. Judy is on the board of Uprooted Dance, is active reviewing grant applications for Impact 100 DC, and volunteers weekly at The Well, a community farm and wellness space in Ward 8 run in coordination with DC Greens. She is a member of the BHV book group and pitches in at the Triangle Garden.

 

Bill Primosch (Bradmoor) and his wife Mary Jo have lived on Hartsdale Avenue across from Bradley Hills Elementary School for over 30 years. After retiring from the State Department, Bill taught international and American politics courses at Montgomery College. He has previous experience on the board of directors of the Bradmoor Neighborhood Association and Shepherd’s Table homeless center in Silver Spring. Until recently, he also served as co-chair of the Bradley Hills Village Environment Group. 

 
Erna Silberstein (Woodhaven) is retired from a company she founded in 1975, which provided social activities, tours, and events primarily for convention groups who met here in Washington, D.C., and evolved into also providing activities for small groups of visitors, senior and school groups touring in the D.C. area. She has also volunteered for social justice causes and political groups. Erna joined the BHV Board in February 2021 and enjoys participating in the book club, assisting with planning for speakers and other social events, and working on membership.
