The book group will meet on August 20 from 7:30-9:00 to discuss Absolution by Alice McDermott. This is a multiple-layered story about the young wife of a CIA agent stationed in Saigon in the early years of the war and, protected inside the expat compound as a proper diplomatic wife, her slow realization about his involvement in the conflict. Her sympathy for Vietnamese war orphans is wrenching.
