About this event

Get to know your neighborhood trees in this easy-going, creative art workshop! Led by Artist and Art Teacher Lisa Grand Murphy, participants will explore the many colors, shapes, and distinctive characteristics of our local trees, both young saplings, starting-to-be-noticed older trees, and venerable heritage trees. With music, some poetry, and a few drawing exercises, the emphasis is on creative fun and hands-on learning. Our Sketching Outdoors Art Workshop welcomes all ages and all levels of artists -- from beginners to more experienced students. This is a free event, sponsored by Bradley Hills Village, and supported by the Maryland Department of Aging Grant promoting intergenerational activities. All supplies will be provided free, and we hope some of you will continue to draw at home and share some of your drawings at the BHV Tree Festival in June.

We will be gathering for Sketching Outdoors at picnic tables under a large tree at Bradley Hills Elementary School Playing Fields in the Hartsdale/Hempstead/Madison/Folkstone block where there are more than 80 trees and at least 23 different species. If it rains, we have arranged a room at the school to use.

Be sure to RSVP for this event. Please register here and email Liz Mills, BHV Executive Director, at
