About this event

Join a Tree Treasure Hunt at Bradley Hills Elementary School: Getting to Know the Trees that Provide Shade, Food and Beauty. BHES students, families, tree lovers, dog walkers, and runners who circle the schoolyard square regularly, come join naturalists who will help people learn how to identify what kind of trees grow in that miniature arboretum. Which species there provides children shade while swinging; which offers food and nesting sites for birds, butterflies, and bees; and which clean carbon dioxide out of the air so we can all breathe more safely? Join us to help measure the girth of some of the bigger trees, discover what different fruits trees offer to different animals, get better at identifying trees by their leaves, find a hidden nest, and at the end, and enjoy making leaf-rubbing art projects while sipping cider and munching cookies. Bob Musil, president of the Rachel Carson Council, and Caryn McTighe Musil, director of the Bradley Hills Village Heritage Tree Project, will lead this outing. You should be able to tackle identifying the trees in your yard and on your block next! Please RSVP to Caryn McTighe Musil at cmusil@outlook.com.
