September 18, 7:30 - 9:00 PM: Book Group. The BHV Book group will meet to discuss The Heaven and Earth Grocery Store by James McBride. The book is about small town secrets and the people who keep them. In a ramshackle neighborhood in the 1920's and 1930's, Jewish and African American residents come together to hide an orphan from state officials. It is a powerful story of place and community, love and hate, compassion and violence. Location for Book Group given at time of registration. To register email: Dianne.
