About this event
The Triangle Garden Work Crew will continue to prep the garden for its May blooming, but you can also simply stop by in the morning to celebrate the richness of Mother Earth and help steward her flourishing by planting some native plants in your own yard. Bradley Hills Village will help encourage you in that effort by giving away some pollinator plugs as long as they last. The bees, bugs, and butterflies will grace you later in the spring and summer by paying a visit to your garden bed. They love natives like sundrops, mountain mint, penstemon, milkweeds of any kind, butterfly weeds, liatris, cardinal flowers, asters, and many more. If you want to purchase some additional plants for your yard, consider going to the Northern Virginia Native Plant Sale April 27 from 9:00 am-2:00 pm where dozens of vendors have tempting offerings. Bring a wagon and some boxes! Don’t forget that the most efficient pollinator is a native tree. An oak, for example, supports 530 different species of butterflies, a black cherry 530, a poplar 368.
